4 robbed, assaulted while trying to buy tires
GREENSBORO – Four people were robbed and assaulted near High Point Friday when they met with someone to buy tires.
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a robbery case initially reported to High Point police today around 12: 18 p.m., according to a news release.
The incident happened along Ranch Drive near Archdale, which is in the sheriff’s office jurisdiction.
Sgt. David Pruitt said four victims met with the suspects at a vacant home on Ranch Drive.
Once there, they were encountered [ed. — they were what now?] by multiple suspects and at least one handgun was used to rob the victims of cash.
Despite being run by a bunch of anti-rights California pansies, I’m a big fan of craigslist, having bought and sold plenty of stuff with it in the last few years. But I think the personal security risks in showing up to an unfamiliar new place to meet strangers who are highly confident you will have a large sum of cash on your person should be obvious!
When meeting up to complete a transaction, try not to go alone. At least inform people where you’re going and who you’re meeting. I prefer meeting in a neutral, busy location like a fast food parking lot or gas station instead of someone’s house if at all possible.
And most importantly, you should arrive to the deal in condition orange and maintain it until you’re convinced things are legit. The human race has spent millenia evolving Spidey Sense for you, listen to it!
And need I say it? Carry your damn guns! These may be trying times, but there is no need to go in fear as long as we are capable, equipped and alert.
